That gives me a bad gut feeling, Fly. It reminds me of a nightmare I had about two months or so ago, after I came back from a trip to new orleans with the wife and kids. I drank a whole lot before it went away, wife wasn't happy.

No way, New Orleans fits the riddle! Even more strange, Get a load of this news story from New Orleans a week before my dream:
Story from 10/13/95 (Please let me know if there's a better way/place to post this audio)

It does fit, doesn't it. That news story potentially fits the second verse, though it seems possibly linked to gang activity. That being said, in my experience of trying to get information from the police, that's a fairly standard response that often translates as "we have no bloody clue".

If you're anywhere near New Orleans, be careful Fly. I won't pretend to understand why this dream came to you, but I can only imagine there are those who would rather you weren't privy to whatever knowledge on these events you now possess. It would seem our dreams are not as private as we, or at least I had once thought.

Well.. the first lead me to this board, and the second gave me the riddle, so I'm not entirely sure it was given just to me. I feel like we're close to deciphering it. Maybe ghosts aren't the key?

《In hushed embrace of night’s sweet song,
Where souls of lovers linger long,
The tides turn red and lives are taken,
Those not of this time do waken.》
It sounds like the murders were done in order to awaken slumbering entities of the past.
A rapid search through some mythology books gives me these suggestions as to what those entities may be:

Draugrs
Zombies
Ghosts
Shades
Vampires
Demons
Jinn
Cryptids of some kind

At the risk of this going south, figured I'd add what I could...

If the city of Aurelianum is a reference to Orleans in France,
its legacy would be New Orleans which happens to be a crescent shaped city.
The residents of New Orleans hold Mardi Gras, which historically is derived from the "Boeuf Gras" or "Fatted Calf" parade.
A perfect place for dangers and threats to hide behind masks.

I'm not sure about night's sweet song or anything in that section.
The tolling of the bell would point to the "Liberty Bell".

I hope this helps things along. Don't dwell on it too long.

The news report I found from around the time I had the dream does seem to link the second verse to that sting of strange murders at night. "Nights Sweet Song" could be indicating the time of the murders. JPalmer even posted a list of what it might be hinting at

I remember there was a huge sink hole that next week in a New Orleans Grave Yard near Bourbon st, not too strange for the City, but experts were a bit baffled by its placement.

A sinkhole in Saint-Louis Cemetery/ Lafayette cemetery, had a smaller sibling in the Old Square. Some fans of fiction believe this is no coincidence but rather the awakening of a previously thought to be fictional vampire. Lestat de Lioncourt.
This is not to say that this is the exact creature to have emerged, it does beg the question if this creature of the night and echo of the past may have tunneled under the Liberty Bell replica behind the police station only a few blocks away in order to hide information before making themselves scarce.
That is assuming an ancient vampire awoke in Lafayette cemetery...

People love turning murders into mythology.

Three bodies found in sinkholes near an old cemetery is tragic, but it isn’t unprecedented. New Orleans soil is unstable. The city literally sinks a little every year. Ground collapses. Coffins shift. Flooding moves things around underground.

Add a dream, a riddle, and a forum thread and suddenly we’re resurrecting vampires.

Humans are extremely good at pattern creation. Especially after the fact.

That said…The timing is interesting.

Sinkholes forming at the same site where multiple victims are discovered suggests something disturbed the ground recently. Construction, tunneling, erosion — something like that.

If there’s a real answer here, it’s buried under layers of bad infrastructure and worse urban planning.

The dead don’t usually come back.

The living just keep finding new ways to blame them.
